GA4 Ultimate Stack
Schedule a GA4 settings drift report
Re-read property settings on a schedule and get an email only when properties differ, drift from your baseline or can't be read. It only reads, so nothing changes unattended.
Settings drift
A portfolio you standardised in March doesn't stay standard. A new brand is created with GA4's defaults. Someone switches one property's attribution model for a test. A property moves to Analytics 360 and its retention options change.
A drift report re-reads the settings on a schedule and tells you when something no longer matches, before a client report does.
Save the load as an automation
Set the module up as you would for a one-off audit: the properties, the categories and, ideally, the baseline to compare against. Then open the Automation section beside it and save a schedule. Scheduled runs are a Premium feature.
Schedules run on your Windows computer: up to 10 runs a day, while the computer is awake and connected and ODDVX is running. A missed run is skipped, not queued. See Schedule GA4 checks for how schedules work across the GA4 stack.
A schedule of read-only runs producing a settings drift report, with a note that nothing is changed.
It only emails when something is off
A scheduled run sends its report only when it finds something: a setting that is mixed across properties, a property that differs from the chosen baseline, or a property that couldn't be read. A clean run sends nothing, so a weekly check across forty brands doesn't fill an inbox.
If you'd rather have the report every run, for a client pack or an audit trail, choose to receive it every time.
A four-week schedule where only the fourth week's run, which found a property differing from the baseline, sends an email.
A schedule never writes
Only reading can be scheduled. Staging, preview and apply always need you at the screen, because a write needs a person to confirm it. ODDVX refuses to schedule a settings change, so an automation can never change GA4 while nobody is watching.
When a drift report arrives
Load the same properties with the same baseline and look at what changed. Then ask why. If it was a mistake, stage it back, preview and apply, and keep a record: see GA4 change control. If the change was intended, update or replace the baseline so the next run is quiet.
A four-step flow for acting on a drift report: load, ask why, stage a fix or update the baseline.
Questions about drift reports
Can a schedule fix the drift it finds?
No. Schedules only read. Every change goes through preview and your confirmation in the module.
Will I get an email every run?
Only when a run finds a mixed setting, a property that differs from the baseline or a property that couldn't be read, unless you choose to receive it every time.
Do I need Premium?
Yes, for scheduling, email and export. On Free you can load and compare any number of properties by hand.
