GA4 Ultimate Stack

Audit GA4 property settings across every brand

Load attribution, retention, Google signals and data stream settings for every GA4 property into one matrix, read what each cell means, and narrow the review to the properties that differ.

Choose what to load

Open Property Settings Manager and tick the properties to audit. A long list narrows as you type a property or account name into the filter. If a new property is missing, refresh the property list from GA4.

Under Settings to read, tick the categories you need: Attribution, Data retention, Data collection, Data streams, Identity & property, and Definitions & links. Loading all six gives the full picture; one category gives a shorter matrix when you already know what you're checking. Press Load settings.

Loading only reads. Nothing in GA4 changes, and it is free for any number of properties on Free and Premium.

Pick the properties and the categories, then load. Reading never changes anything.

A form with five brands ticked, the attribution and data retention categories selected, and a Load settings button.

Read the matrix

Every loaded property sits side by side, one cell per property and setting. Property-level settings such as the attribution model have one cell per property. Enhanced measurement and redaction belong to a web data stream, so a property with two web streams has two cells for each of them. App streams don't carry these settings, and a property with no web stream says so instead of showing a blank.

A cell is either a value GA4 returned just now, or a reason there isn't one:

  • n/a: GA4 reported that the setting doesn't apply to this property or stream.
  • No access: your Google account can't read it. Ask for access to the property.
  • Error: that one setting failed to load. The rest of the property still loaded.
A value, or a reason there isn't one. Only values that were read are compared.

Six cell states: a value, n/a, no web data stream, no access, error, and a note that only read values are compared.

How “differs from most” is worked out

For each setting, ODDVX compares the values it could read, exactly as GA4 holds them. If every property has the same value, the setting is Consistent. If not, the most common value becomes the reference and every property that doesn't match it is marked Differs from most properties.

Cells that couldn't be read take no part, so a property you can't access never drags the comparison. A list such as the query parameter keys to redact is compared as a set: the same keys in a different order count as a match.

When values split evenly, two properties one way and two the other, there is no most common value and nobody is marked as the odd one out. The setting still shows as mixed. That is the signal to decide a standard and save it as a baseline.

Two and two: no majority, so no outliers. A baseline settles it.

A Google signals table with two properties enabled and two disabled, all marked mixed.

Narrow the review

Switch the view from All loaded properties to Only those that differ from most. Thirty cells become the three that need a decision.

Different isn't automatically wrong. A Google Analytics 360 property may keep data longer on purpose, and a brand in another region may have made a different privacy choice. Note why a property differs before anyone changes it.

Filtered to the cells that differ. That is the whole review.

A data retention table filtered to only the properties that differ from most, showing three cells and the most common value for each.

Use the read-only columns

Identity & property and Definitions & links can't be changed here, but they belong in an audit. A different time zone or currency makes a cross-brand comparison misleading before any setting is touched. The service level tells you which properties are on Analytics 360. The counts of key events, custom dimensions and metrics, custom channel groups, Google Ads links and BigQuery links show at a glance which brand is set up differently.

Change those in GA4, or in the module that owns them: Events Manager, Dimensions Control Center or Channel Groups Vault.

Keep the audit

On Premium, export the matrix or email it, so the audit you did today is the record you compare against next quarter. On Free, everything is on screen.

Questions about auditing settings

?

Does loading settings change anything?

No. Loading and comparing only read. Nothing is written until you stage a change, preview it and confirm it.

?

Is there a limit on how many properties I can load?

No. Reading and comparing is free across any number of properties, on Free and Premium.

?

Why is nothing marked when the values are split?

With an even split there is no most common value, so there is nothing to differ from. Save a baseline and compare against that instead.

?

Why does a cell say No access?

Your Google account can't read that setting on that property. Ask the property's administrator for access, then load again.
