GTM Ultimate Stack

Turn GTM standards findings into fixes

The audit only reads, so every finding is fixed somewhere else. Where each kind gets fixed, how to batch the fixes across containers, and how to confirm they worked.

Where each finding gets fixed

Group the findings by what fixes them:

  • Names that break a pattern, junk words, stray whitespace: rename them in Inventory & Cleanup with find & replace.
  • Clutter: Universal Analytics tags, test tags, tags with no firing trigger. Pause or delete them in Inventory & Cleanup; Pause, delete or retain helps decide.
  • Tag settings: missing consent types, a literal Measurement ID, a firing option, document.write in Custom HTML. Edit the tag in GTM.
  • Container settings: too many open workspaces, built-in variables switched off. Change them in GTM.
Names and clutter go through Inventory & Cleanup. Settings are edited in GTM.

A grid routing each kind of finding to where it is fixed: Inventory & Cleanup or GTM.

Batch the fixes across containers

A finding in one container is usually in five. Fix the whole set in one batch: in Inventory & Cleanup, extract the same brands, filter to the items the audit named, and stage the change everywhere at once. The preview shows every container before anything is written, and the changes land in a workspace per container for you to publish.

Confirm the fix

The audit reads the Default Workspace. A fix staged in an ODDVX rollout workspace won't show until it's published, so publish first, then run the audit again. A fix made directly in the Default Workspace shows on the next run even before it's published.

Publish the fix, then audit again to see it pass.

Two panels: the Default Workspace is audited, including unpublished edits; other workspaces are not.

Fix the habit, not just the finding

When the same standard fails in most containers, the cause is upstream: a template everyone copies, a step missing from the build checklist, a vendor's install guide. Fix that too, or the findings come back with the next brand.

Audit, fix, publish, audit again.

A four-step cycle: audit, fix in Inventory & Cleanup or GTM, publish in GTM, audit again.

Questions about fixing findings

?

Can ODDVX fix consent settings for me?

No. Consent settings are edited on each tag in GTM. Inventory & Cleanup handles renames, pauses, deletes, creates and copies.

?

I fixed it but the finding is still there.

If the fix is in a workspace other than the Default Workspace, publish it and run the audit again.

?

Should I fix info findings?

When it's cheap to. Info is for things worth knowing, not things that break.
