GTM Ultimate Stack
Enforce a GTM naming convention across every brand
Turn your naming convention into standards, find every name that breaks it in every container, and fix them in one reviewed rename.
A convention as standards
A naming convention is a set of patterns, one per kind of item. Six built-in standards cover the common ones:
- No placeholder / junk names: flags names containing words such as copy of, untitled, test, temp, (old), do not use or wip. Edit the list to your own.
- No stray whitespace: no leading or trailing spaces and no double spaces.
- Patterns for GA4 event tags, dataLayer triggers, Custom HTML tags and lookup and RegEx table variables. Each ships with an example and is off until you set your own.
A grid of naming standards: the pattern for each kind of item and its severity.
Write the patterns
Each pattern is a regular expression the name must match. Most conventions only need the start of the name: ^GA4 - Event - , ^DL - , ^(LT|RT) - . Edit the built-in patterns, or write a custom standard for anything else, such as a prefix for Google Ads tags.
Run the audit on one brand you know follows the convention. If it fails, the pattern is wrong, not the brand.

Fix every name in one reviewed batch
The audit lists every name that breaks the convention. The fix is in Inventory & Cleanup: extract the same brands, filter the table to the same items, and use find & replace to stage the renames in every container. Review, apply, publish, then audit again. Roll out a naming convention with find & replace covers the rename step.
A four-step flow from naming findings to a staged, reviewed rename and a fresh audit.
Questions about naming standards
Is the junk-word check case-sensitive?
No. Copy of, COPY OF and copy of are all found.
Can the audit rename items for me?
No. It only reads. Renames are staged in Inventory & Cleanup and published by you.
How do I allow an exception?
Narrow the standard's Applies to, for example with a name pattern that excludes it, or accept the finding at info severity.
