GTM Ultimate Stack

Map a GTM container's dependencies

Load a GTM account, switch between its containers, search for any item and follow its links upstream and downstream, one click at a time.

Load an account

Open Tag Dependency Map, choose a brand's GTM account and press Load account. ODDVX reads every container in that account and builds a map for each one. Nothing is written. If no account is listed, set the brand's GTM account ID in ODDVX first.

Containers appear as buttons once the account has loaded; one click switches between them, and the search starts fresh for each.

One account, its containers, and a search across every item.

The map's controls: three container buttons with the site container selected, a search for form_id and a note of four matches.

Search for an item

Type part of a name into Search a tag, trigger, variable, or event. Matches come from all four kinds of item, each marked with its kind, so form_id finds the dataLayer variable, the tags that send it and the trigger whose condition reads it.

Read both sides

Choose a match and it moves to the centre of the map. On the left, Upstream: leads here: what fires it, blocks it, listens for it or uses it. On the right, Downstream: this leads to: what it fires, blocks or uses. Each link says how the two are connected, such as fired by or uses.

An item with nothing on either side shows No relationships: an isolated entity with nothing directly connected.

A tag with its trigger, its exception and the variables it reads.

A dependency map centred on a GA4 event tag with its event, triggers and variables either side.

Follow the chain

Click any linked item and it becomes the focus, with its own links either side. Back returns to the item you came from, as many steps as you've taken. Each view shows direct links only, which keeps it fast however large the container.

Search, read both sides, follow a link, go back.

A four-step flow: search, read upstream and downstream, click a linked item to focus it, and go back.

Know what you're looking at

The map shows each container's Default Workspace, including edits not yet published. If something looks wrong, check that workspace in GTM, and load the account again after a publish to see the change.

The Default Workspace is drawn, published or not.

Two panels: the Default Workspace, including unpublished edits, is drawn; other workspaces are not.

Questions about a first map

?

Why can't I load two accounts at once?

The map loads one GTM account at a time. Load the next account when you need it.

?

Why is a container missing?

Your Google account can't read it, or it has no workspace. Check access in GTM.

?

How many matches does a search show?

Up to 30. Type more of the name to narrow it.
