GA4 workflow

Check dimension values before building a client report

Review registration, blank values and placeholders before relying on a reporting breakdown.

A practical sequence

From inspection to a documented next action.

01

Check the registration

Confirm the custom dimension exists and is bound to the intended event or user parameter. ODDVX reports missing registrations rather than assuming a value exists.

02

Choose the reporting period

Use an explicit date range with enough relevant traffic. Newly registered dimensions and recent events may not be ready in reporting yet.

03

Inspect value quality

In GA4, review the dimension’s breakdown. In ODDVX, validate registered dimensions and inspect blank or placeholder rates across the traffic carrying that parameter.

04

Investigate the collection

Compare the affected values with the site’s dataLayer or request payloads. Confirm the fix on new traffic before relying on the breakdown.

What the result meansValidation covers registered event- and user-scoped dimensions. Item scope is not supported. Creating or editing dimension metadata applies directly in GA4 after confirmation.
