GTM workflow

Inspect tag dependencies before a change

Trace the relationships around a tag, trigger or variable before you propose an edit.

A practical sequence

From inspection to a documented next action.

01

Pick the entity

Select the relevant container and the tag, trigger or variable under review. Confirm you are looking at the workspace you intend to change.

02

Follow the relationships

Use Tag Dependency Map to inspect connected entities. For a manual review, inspect references and shared triggers in GTM and record the affected tags.

03

Plan the verification

List the journeys and consent states affected by the proposed edit. A configuration graph cannot establish how every custom script behaves at runtime.

04

Review and test

Preview any GTM edits, stage approved changes and test the workspace in Tag Assistant before you publish it yourself.

What the result meansA dependency map supports review; it does not guarantee that a proposed change is safe.
